We have a long history of strong leaders in District 12 who think outside of the box, not only bringing new ideas to the table, but making those ideas materialize into improved services for our locals and their members.
Born and raised in San Diego, CA National Vice President
George E. McCubbin II started his federal government career as a military
policeman with the U.S. Army. In 1985 he accepted a job as a U.S. Border Patrol
Agent in El Paso, TX. Like most Federal Government Employees NVP McCubbin choose
a career in civil service not for the prestige but in order to make a
difference while providing for his family.
His father had been a Navy man and he to wanted to be able to serve our
country and it's citizens while providing for his family.
Not long after starting with Border Patrol he began to see
that there were decisions being made in Washington DC, and by Agency management
which often didn't really work in the
field. He felt that in order to best
serve our country he and his co-workers would need to have a voice in their
workplace. McCubbin joined the union and soon became a union steward.
Over the years he has been stationed in San Diego, and Casa
Grande Station, near Tucson, AZ but his activism with AFGE has never ceased. "I
have always enjoyed working with the Union at every level and due to the
incompetence of our managers within our agency, I have stayed in the Union as
an activist to help all of my men and women in green" says NVP McCubbin. He has serves as local union Steward, Secretary,
Treasurer, Vice-President, and a Local President.
In 2009 McCubbin became the Executive Vice President of
the National Border Patrol Council and in March 2011 he was elected as the National
Border Patrol Council President. He
continued to serve as NBPC President until he was elected as AFGE 12th District
National Vice President on October 13, 2012 where he now focues on helping all men and women working in federal government.
National Vice President George E. McCubbin II is a dedicated
family man with a beautiful wife (Laura), 7 children and 8 grand children.
My vision for District 12 is to continue to grow,
strengthen, and empower our membership. We need to organize, educate, and
activate as many new activists as possible so we can become a smarter,
stronger, and more effective Union. We need to get the word out that
"Unions" are not the bad people.
This country depends on all of us and any attack on our union is an
attack to this country. The services we
provide take care of our neighbors, our loved ones, our veterans, and most
importantly, OUR COUNTRY.
